  • John Sauls III (J3)
    John Sauls III (J3) Lead Pastor

    After a two year transition from his father Pastor John, Pastor J3 took over as Lead Pastor of Crossroads Ministries in 2016. After 23 years with IBM, Pastor J3 accepted the call to ministry in the Fall of 2014. After serving in ministry for 20 plus years on a volunteer basis in various capacities, including Men’s Ministry and Youth Pastor, his experience in the corporate world as well as the church world give him an invaluable edge to lead. He and his wife Caroline live in Sanford, NC and have 1 child.

  • Chris Pipes
    Chris Pipes Executive Pastor

    Pastor Chris is originally from California and graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies from Westmont College. As of July 2016, Pastor Chris accepted the role of Executive Pastor here at Crossroads Ministries. He brings a wealth of experience as he has been in ministry for over 23 years. His experience spans Worship, Biblical Discipleship, Connect Groups, First Touch, Next Steps and Care Pastor. He and his wife Debi have 2 children, Noah and Sawyer.

  • Rob Costelow
    Rob Costelow Worship Pastor

    As of July 2016, Pastor Rob Costelow accepted the job as Lead Worship Pastor here at Crossroads Ministries. He is originally from Arizona and started as a Missionary in Mexico. Pastor Rob is a talented Worship Pastor who has been in the ministry of over 24 years. He has experience as a Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor and he has succeeded as a Contemporary Christian Artist. He is a published singer and songwriter and he is passionate about enabling the body of Christ to grow through Praise and Worship. He and his wife Adela live in Sanford, NC.

  • Paul Backlund
    Paul Backlund Family Life Pastor

    Pastor Paul was born and raised in Sanford, NC and grew up in Christian home. His parents, Ray “Pappy” and Anna founded Crossroads Ministries in 1993. Paul worked with the church from its beginnings and received his ordination in 1999. After retiring from 25 years in logistics in the metal stamping industry he joined the staff of Crossroads full time in 2006 as the Family Life Pastor. As a licensed counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors, he specializes in marriage and financial counseling.  He and his wife Kathy enjoy riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending time with family and raising chickens. As a counselor and author, Paul and Kathy conduct marriage conferences and provide financial counseling to Crossroads as well as surrounding communities and cities in the region.

  • Nicole Cannaday
    Nicole Cannaday Student Ministries Director

    Nicole grew up in Temecula, Ca. She made a decision to follow Jesus at a young age. Nicole is passionate about teaching children and teens about seeking and developing a relationship with Christ.  She enjoys working with teachers and developing programs that train children to serve God and reach others through love and their giftings. She taught at Western Harnett High School as a special education teacher and volunteered with the Crossroad’s students for four years before joining our staff in the fall of 2011. Nicole received a bachelor’s degree in education and childhood development from Marist College in 2003, and a Masters degree in Educational Psychology in 2004. She is also certified in Teen Christian Counseling by the American Association of Christian Counseling. Nicole currently serves over our nursery, preschool, elementary, and teen programs. She is married to Rob and they have three children. She loves coaching girls’ softball, doing outdoor activities and hanging out with friends.

    John Sauls Pastor Emeritus

    Pasor John has served Crossroads Ministries as Senior Pastor for over 20 years. In that time he has seen the church grow from 35 people in 1995, to over 700 in 2016. Today, Crossroads continues to make an impact in the lives of individuals and in our community. He and his wife Mardie live in Sanford. They have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren.

    During 2015/2016 Pastor John turned over all leadership responsibility to his son, Pastor John Sauls, III (Pastor J3). Moving forward Pastor John will serve as Pastor Emeritus, continuing to preach and provide leadership support to our Crossroads staff.
